CISS programs are designed to support students in Seattle Public Schools who are at risk of not graduating from high school. Typically we partner with schools that have higher percentages of poor and minority students.
Each year we help hundreds of students overcome the social, emotional and physical barriers to learning by providing academic support and intervention.
We provide:
Academic and enrichment activities: to help strengthen academic performance for at-risk students through a variety of after-school activities, one-on-one reading tutoring, math tutoring, homework assistance, and WASL preparation.
One-on-one student support: crisis intervention and prevention services to reduce and eliminate external barriers to learning such as homelessness, hunger, family disruption, bullying and harassment, substance abuse, and language barriers.
Skill-building programs: teach real-life skills such as financial literacy, goal-setting, healthy choice-making and fitness so that students gain practical skills that will last a lifetime.
Stuff the Bus: school supply drive to collect and distribute thousands of backpacks and school supplies to needy students.
